The Doll’s House delivers surprise and delight for those who step beyond its yellow front door and discover something unexpected. The design is a non traditional approach to a small, narrow sloping site at the end of a cul-de-sac.
The driving philosophies behind The Doll’s House were innovation and functionality with respect to the site’s history. The house provided an opportunity for the architect to experiment with ideas to maximise floor space and natural light – key issues for terrace houses.
The unique pitched roof together with the skylight provide an ethereal light and spatial quality that is non-typical of terrace housing. The project became affectionately known as the Doll’s House because of its tiny playful footprint.
